Parenting As A Divine Calling
Psalm 127:3 declares that children are a heritage from the Lord — a sacred reward entrusted to earthly parents. The word “heritage” implies a unique legacy passed on from one generation to the next. This scripture affirms that parenting is not accidental; it is a divine assignment. Whether biological, adopted, fostered, or spiritual, every child is God’s intentional creation, and parents are called to reflect His image through love, care, and guidance in fulling their parenting assignment.
Understanding parenting as a divine calling means stepping into a God-ordained partnership. It requires asking four key questions: Who is this child? Why am I called to raise them? What is expected of me? And how will I fulfil God’s purpose? Answering these brings clarity and joy to the parenting journey.
Though challenging, parenting is deeply rewarding. It demands emotional, spiritual, and mental strength — but God equips those He calls and will give you all that is required to raise your child if you partner with Him. The goal is not perfection, but transformation: raising children who become lifelong disciples of Jesus.
Take note, successful parenting involves mastering relational skills, understanding your child’s love language, modelling faith, learning from others and above all partnership with God is vital.
